Waddington Cricket Club made it two wins from three matches with an eight run win away at Rustons.
As previously reported, Waddo claimed their maiden victory of the 2019 season with a three wicket win away at Gully Cricketers in their second league match.
A stand-out partnership from Charlie Broughton and James Husband guided Waddington to their second successive away league victory on Sunday, June 2.
Waddington made 91 runs all out in very tough conditions with rain effecting the game that was shortened to 32 overs a side as a result.

The crucial moment in the match for Waddington’s batters came after seven wickets. The visitors were struggling on 36/7, but an eighth wicket partnership of 41 from Broughton and Husband proved decisive.
There was some impressive form from Rustons’ bowlers with Russell Moore and Paul Chambers getting 3 and 4 wickets respectively.
It was then Rustons’ turn to bat with a total of 91 to beat. Martin Noble and Lee Buick produced a strong opening partnership, which was eventually broken by a wicket from Waddington captain Phil Dainty.

Elliot Vinden and Husband took two wickets apiece. Kevin Kilroy rolled back the years with a shape spell including three wickets for just 20 runs.
Rustons only had 10 players available and finished on 83-9.
After the match Waddington’s vice chairman Joe Raw said: “It was a very tight game with plenty of stand-out players, but special mention to Phil Dainty for the way he utilised his bowling attack managing to create wicket taking opportunities.”
