‘Strong and whole hearted’ objections to village expansion

A plan to build new homes in a North Lincolnshire village has been met with “strong and whole hearted” objections from residents.

The proposal by Maltrgade Ltd would see a new 29 home estate built on land off Rogate, Silver Street, in Winteringham.

All the properties proposed would be two bedroom bungalows and public open space is also planned as part of the development.

But local residents have objected to the plan and said the village would struggle to cope.

Richard Pike, who lives on School Road, said it in a letter to North Lincolnshire Council would be “inconceivable” for the authority to approve the plan.

“I strongly and whole heartedly object to this planning permission once again, It wasn’t welcomed the first time and it won’t be this time round either.

“The small rural village of Winteringham is home to around 950 people, so it seem inconceivable to think that the council will allow a housing estate of this magnitude to be built on rural farm land.”

Meanwhile, Martin and Christine Hammond, School Road, said that the increase who have an impact on traffic and education.

“If this development is permitted then it would mean an increase of between 50 to 60 people living in our village,” they said.

“The infrastructure of the village is simply not suitable for such a large increase of residents.”

North Lincolnshire Council will make a decision on the plan at a later date.
