Two Lincoln academies to join larger trust

Joining trust with eight other schools

Two Lincoln schools will join a multi-academy in a bid to improve teaching standards.

Lincoln Castle Academy on Riseholme Road and Ermine Primary Academy on Redbourne Drive intend to become part of Healing Multi-Academy Trust from September.

Both schools currently form the Academy of Lincoln Trust. They announced to staff and parents in January that they were looking to join another multi-academy trust.

Healing Multi-Academy Trust has grown from the Ofsted-rated outstanding Healing School on the outskirts of Grimsby. It is responsible for seven other schools.

In the most recently published Ofsted report in April 2016 Lincoln Castle Academy was rated as ‘Good’.

Head of Lincoln Castle Academy Mrs Laming said: “Being part of a larger trust will mean we are able to generate financial efficiencies which will directly impact on the quality of education provided as well as resources and improvements to the school site.”

In the most recently published Ofsted report in December 2018 Ermine Primary Academy was rated as ‘Inadequate’.

Head at Ermine Primary Academy Mr Manby said: “The trust has values in line with our own and a proven record of high expectations and success. It was also important to us that it was local.”

Both heads said they did not intend changing the academy names, badging, uniform, start or finish times, term dates or staffing.
