Lincoln Touch win Shield at Northampton tournament

It’s been a positive summer for Lincoln Touch

Lincoln Touch were crowned as Shield winners at the regional development tournament at Northampton COYS.

It has been a successful few weeks for Lincoln after winning the bowl competition at a tournament in Royston before finishing third at the RFU 02 Touch tournament in Nottingham.

Lincoln Touch took a mixed team of senior and junior players to the latest tournament in Northampton on Sunday, July 7.

Lincoln played three matches in the morning. There were defeats against Ospreys’ junior team (4-3) and COYS Saints (3-1), but a big 5-1 win over Junior Tigers West saw them progress into the shield semi-final.

A 5-1 win over Branbury in the semi-final saw Lincoln Touch progress through to the final.

In the final Lincoln Touch emerged victorious with a 6-3 win over Junior Tigers East.

After the tournament Lincoln Touch coach Rob Smith said: “To come away Shield winners after finishing third the weekend before is a great achievement for the team.”

Lincoln Touch for ages 12 and upwards takes place at Lincoln Rugby Club, located on Lodge Lane in Nettleham, every Tuesday from 7pm-9pm, priced at £2 per session.
