Power cut forces Lincoln hospital to cancel appointments

Staff had to get the back-up generators running

Lincoln County Hospital had to cancel and reschedule around 50 appointments after a huge power cut in the city.

Clinical systems, power, lighting, and telephones in several departments were all hit by the power cut.

Staff managed to get back-up generators running and worked hard to try and get the service back to normal but some patients were still affected.

The hospital is running a reduced service on Friday, October 25 but it is expected to be fully restored later today.

As previously reported, nearly 90,000 properties in the city lost power and traffic lights even went dark, leading to gridlock on the roads.

The power went at 10.23am and the systems were back up and running in the next three minutes.

Western Power Distribution told The Lincolnite that they have been inspecting overhead lines but still do not know what caused the outage.
