Woman seriously injured in Scunthorpe KFC assault

He allegedly became ‘agitated’ in the store and assaulted her in the car park

A woman sustained what’s thought to be life-threatening injuries after an alleged assault by an ‘agitated’ man at a KFC in Scunthorpe.

Humberside Police were called to the KFC at Gallagher Retail Park on Doncaster Road in Scunthorpe around 7.30pm on Sunday, September 29 after reports that a man became agitated inside the restaurant and assaulted a woman in the car park. The woman was later taken to hospital.

Police have launched an investigation and a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Daniel Staniforth of Herriot Walk in Scunthorpe was charged by police with grievous bodily harm before being remanded in custody overnight to appear at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court during the morning of Tuesday, October 1.

Investigating detectives are particularly keen to hear from two teenagers who sat with the victim until the ambulance arrived, as well as the driver of a Range Rover in the car park at the time. Police believe that they may have seen the incident.
