Train enthusiasts get ready as the York Yuletide Express train, hauled by steam locomotives, will be making a stop in Lincoln this weekend.
The train leaves London Ealing Broadway at around 7.10am on Saturday, November 30, hauled by A4 Class Pacific No.60009 Union of South Africa. The return journey leaves York at around 4.55pm, hauled by Princess Coronation Class steam locomotive No.46233 Duchess of Sutherland.
It is one of many The Railway Touring Company tours running in 2019 and being hauled by one of their pool of locomotives.
According to Realtime Trains it will arrive in Lincoln at 11.35am. It is due to depart Lincoln at 11.44pm. On the return journey it will make another stop in Lincoln, leaving the city at 6.44pm.
Santa and his elves will also be handing out presents to all children during the journey.
Lincolnshire calling points
The journey travels north via the East Coast Main Line and Lincoln, with the train being hauled between London and York by A4 class Pacific No.60009 Union of South Africa, and from York to London on the return by Princess Coronation Class steam locomotive No.46233 Duchess of Sutherland.
When it leaves Peterborough, it will take the former Great Northern Railway line towards Grimsby at Werrington Junction and head across to Spalding. Here it will join the Great Northern and Great Eastern Joint Railway line to Sleaford, where it will use the avoiding line.
It will continue through a part of rural Lincolnshire and reach Lincoln.
After picking up at Lincoln, it will head for Gainsborough and cross the Trent en route to Doncaster, where it will meet up with the East Coast Mainline once again. From Doncaster, it will be a fast run northwards along the East Coast Main Line to York.
