Caught on camera: “Explosion” in Skegness explained

Homes on the Lincolnshire coast saw their power drop on Wednesday night

A security camera caught an electricity “explosion” in Skegness, which also saw the power drop for homes in Ingoldmells.

The night sky was suddenly filled with a burst of light on the Lincolnshire coast at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, December 11.

Western Power Distribution said that the light would have been caused by some interference on the overhead lines from 7.30pm and 10pm.

Engineers are out investigating the fault and will be inspecting the lines on Thursday, December 12.

Western Power are not sure at the time of writing what caused the disturbance on the overhead lines.
