Man dies in hospital on Christmas Eve after being hit by car

He was hit by a car in Caistor

A 36-year-old man living in Lincoln has died in hospital on Christmas Eve after he was hit by a car in Caistor earlier this month.

Vitalij Valiuk died in hospital on the evening of December 24 after he was hit by a Skoda Octavia at Audby Top, Caistor at around 9pm on December 13.

Police issued an appeal to trace the family of the pedestrian who was taken to hospital with serious injuries at the time.

Officers have now managed to trace the family and identified the man as Vitalij Valiuk.

Mr Valiuk took a bus from Lincoln at 10.45am on December 13. He travelled to Caistor and was last seen in the White Hart pub at around 4.25pm.

Officers believe he lived in the Thesiger Street area of Lincoln, but he also had links to Boston and Spalding.

Investigators are now trying to trace the driver of a small silver car who we believe may have witnessed this collision.
