A new indoor sporting venue, which will include three artificial football pitches, is set to be created in an industrial unit in Lincoln.
Kixx Lincoln, a football programme aimed at youngsters, is set to take over the building on Moorland Centre Retail Park, off Tritton Road, in order to provide the sporting venue.
City of Lincoln Council approved the proposal for the new facility.
As part of the plan, three six-a-side football pitches, a seating area and cafe would be created at the unit.
Plans tabled by Kixx Lincoln for the industrial unit off Tritton Road in the city.
It would also become the new headquarters of Kixx Lincoln and a community hub.
The developer said the facility was needed due to a lack of sporting facilities in the area.
It said in its plans: “With six-a-side leagues in Lincoln growing at a fast pace with no purpose-built pitches available the demand for this use is very high.
“With Kixx using nearly all current available venues in Lincoln they have seen a huge need to create a safer purpose-built venue for the community to enjoy all under one roof.
“All Lincoln’s pitches are currently outdoors with a vast majority become un-useable in bad weather.”
Kixx added that it would use the facility for its weekly sessions, including inter-school games and holiday clubs, as well as six-a-side leagues on an evening.
