Two admit Lincoln High Street sex attack and assault

The pair will be sentenced this month

Two men will be sentenced later this month after admitting a sex attack on a 19-year-old woman in Lincoln city centre.

Alexandru Mocanu, 35, of Gibbeson Street, Lincoln, and Alin-Ionut Apostu, 19, of Hood Street, Lincoln, each pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the teenager when they appeared before Lincoln Crown Court on Thursday, January 9.

Apostu admitted assaulting the 19-year-old causing her actually bodily harm and to assaulting a second woman also causing her actual bodily harm.

Both men also admitted a further charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent to a male friend of the 19-year-old on the same occasion.

The charges follow an incident on Lincoln High Street in the early hours of December 2, 2019.

The sexual assault victim previously spoke to The Lincolnite, stating she no longer felt safe on the city’s streets.

She claimed her male friend, who had tried to help, had been knocked to the floor by the men. They then allegedly stamped on his head.

Mocanu and Apostu were both remanded in custody to await sentencing on January 22.
