Lincoln man named and charged with possessing explosives

He will appear in court this week

Police have named and charged a Lincoln man in connection with the discovery of explosives in a city centre flat.

Calvin Gatford, 49, of Clasketgate, has been charged with possessing an explosive substance for unlawful purpose.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 24.

Lincolnshire Police have stated they “do not believe this is linked to terrorism.”

As reported at the time, bomb squads raided a flat on Clasketgate in Lincoln city centre on Thursday, February 13.

The building was evacuated and cordoned off by police.

A man was arrested at the scene, as investigators confirmed they had discovered what they believed at the time to be improvised explosives.
