By Local Democracy Reporter

Stagecoach has announced a reduction to its bus timetables as of Monday, March 23 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The company will operate a 7am-7pm service running from Monday to Saturday, as well as additional hygiene measures.

The updated times will ensure that critical routes are maintained wherever possible.

New timetable details will be available online here from Monday, March 23.

Changes follow new government advice on social contact and non-essential travel.

Operators have also enhanced cleaning regimes.

In a statement released on Thursday, March 19, Matt Cranwell, MD Stagecoach East Midlands, stated the importance of key sectors such as public transport.

“We are working hard to best maintain essential services, safeguard jobs and ensure the long-term sustainability of a sector which is central to our economy and communities.

“We will continue to monitor the position, liaise closely with government and other authorities, and respond as appropriate to what is a dynamic situation.”
