The party is over: Lincoln nightclub up for sale for £2.5m

The party appears to be over

The party appears to be over for Lincoln revellers after a city nightclub was put on the market with a guide price of £2.5 million.

Offers are currently being invited for the former Circle nightclub on Silver Street, which is being marketed as a freehold by Chartered Surveyors Fleurets. The Old Constitutional Club is a Grade II listed building, spread over three floors of approximately 19,500 square feet.

It is understood that the club has permanently closed down. Although this hasn’t been officially confirmed, when The Lincolnite tried to call two of the listed phone numbers, they are not in service or currently not receiving incoming calls.

The club, which was formerly known as Tokyo, is owned by Tokyo Industries. The Lincolnite also reached out to Tokyo Industries via email, but there was no reply by the time of publication.

The Facebook page is currently called ‘The Crib Lincoln’, but there has been no online activity since January 2 when it apologised for its New Year’s Eve event not going ahead.

The former Tokyo nightclub was previously taken over by a trio of local music producers, who opened it as a new club called Circle, plus a ground floor bar called Brewhaus, in October 2014.

In autumn 2018, Bill & Keith’s F*cked up Jazz Club, which didn’t play any jazz music, opened in the former Circle night club. It “raised the roof” so much the roof fell off in September 2018.

The building was also previously occupied by The Tiago Lincoln Brazilian restaurant, which closed after a one out of five stars hygiene rating from city council inspectors.

However, the venue tried to blame The Lincolnite for publicising a story, which they claim led to its immediate closure.
