Two people charged with attempted murder after Spalding shooting

Police have charged two people with attempted murder and possession of a gun after a suspected shooting in Spalding.

A 24-year-old man was found by a driver with what has been confirmed as a gunshot wound at around 9.20pm on Friday, February 28.

The motorist took him to hospital, where he was said to be in a serious condition. He remains in hospital at the time of publication.

Lincolnshire Police charged Junior Titilawo, 25, from Huntingdon and Anthony Madine, 20, from Spalding over the shooting.

Both will be in court on Thursday, March 5 charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm.

In total, police have arrested nine people over the incident. Five of them have been bailed. They were a 50-year-old man, a 23-year-old man, a 26-year-old man, a 22-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman.

Two further people, who are 30 and 18, remain in custody at the time of publication and continue to be questioned.

Police initially indicated the man had been shot in Boston, but the force now believes it happened in the Spalding area.

Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting incident 436 of February 28.

“These incidents are rare. The circumstances surrounding this offence are isolated in which those involved were known to each other.

“Lincolnshire Police have placed a significant amount of resources into this investigation to get the result we have. We take incidents of violence very seriously and are committed to bringing offenders to justice but more importantly demonstrates our commitment to safeguarding our communities.”
