Boston nurse is Lincolnshire’s youngest coronavirus fatality

A fundraising page has been set up for his family

A 44-year-old nurse in Boston has sadly died of coronavirus, becoming the youngest COVID-19 victim in Lincolnshire.

Anujkumar Kuttikkottu Pavithran, who was known as Kumar to his colleagues, was a staff nurse at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston.

He had worked for the NHS for the past nine years before sadly losing his battle with the virus on Monday, April 27.

Andrew Morgan, Chief Executive at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, paid tribute said: “I am deeply saddened to share the news that one of our colleagues, who had tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19), sadly died last night.

“Anujkumar Kuttikkottu Pavithran, known as Kumar to his colleagues, was a staff nurse at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston. He was a very well liked, professional, respected member of the team and will be greatly missed.

“We are all sending our heartfelt condolences to Kumar’s family, friends and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time.”

A Facebook fundraiser has been set up by Jerry Varghese to raise funds for his wife and two children, which by the time of publication has so far raised over £6,600. Click here to make a donation.

Jerry wrote a tribute on the page, which read: “He was a valuable member of the team and loved by his friends and family equally.

“During the unprecedented COVID crisis, Anuj worked day and night constantly, when he contracted this illness. This man took a pride in how well he took care of his family and his wellbeing. The love he put into this world was truly remarkable.

“Currently his wife, two children and family are left without income. There is nothing we can do to bring their normality back, but the least we can do is help with the funeral and family support fund.”
