Elderly woman burgled by fake COVID-19 cleaners

Woman in her 80s robbed of £5k

By Local Democracy Reporter

Two men used a COVID-19 distraction tactic to force their way into the house of a woman in her 80s, stealing £5,000 from her Scothern home.

The burglary happened after a knock at the elderly lady’s door at around 4.40pm on Thursday, June 11.

The two men told the woman that they were asked to clean her home after receiving a report of COVID-19 in her property in Heathlea, Scothern.

They then pushed and injured her before stealing a handbag that had around £5,000 cash inside it.

Police are appealing for information from people who may have seen two suspicious men in the Scothern or Nettleham area.
