Sleaford man ‘slammed car door on police officer’s leg’

The man has been named by police

A 39-year-old man has been charged by police after allegedly slamming a car door on an officer’s leg and causing minor injuries.

Adrian Bawcombe of Northgate in Sleaford has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker. He was also charged with using threatening words and behaviour.

The officer was on unrelated enquiries when a male approached his vehicle and became violent on Church Road in Sleaford at around 9.30am on June 20.

The incident happened as the officer began to get out of his car. Sleaford Police tweeted about incident and posted a photo of the police car with a smashed window.

Bawcombe has been released on bail and will appear at court at a later date.

Reacting to the incident, Phil Vickers, Chief Inspector at Lincolnshire Police, said it is not acceptable and not part of the job.
