Woman jailed for assaulting police officers

Two assaults on police officers, including one in custody

A Scunthorpe woman has been jailed for two assaults on police officers, including one during a search in custody.

Kelly Bartholomew, 33, appeared at Grimsby Magistrates Court on June 4 and pleaded guilty to two charges. She was immediately sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.

Humberside Police received a report that a woman was laying in the middle of the street intoxicated during the evening of Tuesday, June 2.

Officers helped the woman, who was identified as Bartholomew, up off the ground and she launched herself at other people. She then swung and hit and officers face.

Bartholomew was arrested on Dunstall Street at around 9.15pm. She was taken into custody where she assaulted another officer as they tried to search her.

She was questioned for the offences and later charged before appearing in court.
