By Local Democracy Reporter

A new 1.5km stretch of cycle path has started to take shape alongside Lincoln’s Eastern Bypass.

The cycle route will run from Bracebridge Heath to Branston, connecting the A15 Sleaford Road with Lincoln Road on the B1188.

Around 30% of the 7.5km cycle path has been completed so far, with a 100% finishing target of autumn 2020.

The £120m bypass will start at a new roundabout on the A15 Sleaford Road and finish at the A158 Wragby Road, with a 7.5km cycle path running adjacent to the road.

It has been backed by Lincolnshire County Council in an attempt to minimise traffic congestion and improve the infrastructure of the city.

Minster Group and Tarmac working on the path.

Founder and managing director of Minster Group, the contractor behind the project, Bruce Spencer-Knott, said:

“We’re proud to have been working on several elements of the Lincoln eastern bypass and we’re excited to begin construction on one of the longest sections of the pedestrian and cycle route alongside it.”
