Lincoln City Women sign former England star

Lincoln City Women have signed former England under 23 footballer Ellie Gilliatt from Derby County.

She grew up in Lincoln and came through the centre of excellence, before moving on to Sheffield FC.

In Sheffield, she helped them win three Women’s Premier League titles and secure promotion to the Women’s Super League in 2015.

She then moved to Sheffield United and became the club’s captain before being signed by Derby.

Ellie will now be coming back to where she began her youth career, and says it “feels right to be coming back home”.

“Talking to all the staff here, they’re very driven and determined to do well this season.

“Hopefully I can aid in that and get them back to where they should be.”
