Popular motocross race on Skegness beach cancelled

A big blow for the East Coast winter season

By Local Democracy Reporter

The annual AMCA Skegness Motocross Beach Race has been cancelled due to coronavirus.

The motocross race was scheduled to run in November, but has been cancelled by event organisers.

Planners said they were in “constant discussions” with Magna Vitae and East Lindsey District Council to find a way to safely progress with the event.

It was supposed to be the race’s 10th anniversary this year, but the organisers will instead wait until Saturday, November 6, 2021.

A spokesperson for AMCA said: “It is with deep regret that we have made the decision to cancel the Skegness Beach Race this year.

“The health and safety of our competitors, officials, medics and the community in general is always our priority.

“Due to recent surges in COVID-19, with localised lockdowns in place, and the delayed trials of the return of spectators to events, we have been left with no other option than to cancel the event.”
