Two police injured in hit and run as chopper hunts runaway driver

A car crashed into a marked police car

A helicopter search was called in Grantham today after a hit and run which saw two police officers injured in a crash.

Officers attended Springfield Road at 10.20am on Tuesday after reports of a suspicious vehicle driving erratically.

While they were on their way, a blue Honda HR-V drove in-between the marked police car and a black Volvo, causing a crash.

The two police officers in the vehicle were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A helicopter was deployed to help search the area, with two of the three males in the Honda being arrested.

At the time of reporting, officers are still looking for the third person involved.

Superintendent Paul Timmins of Lincolnshire Police shared information of the crash on social media, saying the vehicle in question was stolen.

Springfield Road was closed during the incident but is expected to reopen at some point on Tuesday afternoon.
