Greetwell Road in Lincoln to close for one month of road works

Overnight road closure not far from Lincoln County Hospital

Road reconstruction works to Greetwell Road, between Sewell Road and Greetwell Close, will start on Monday, October 3.

The total programme of works is expected to last for up to four weeks, subject to suitable weather.

As part of the project, Greetwell Road will be closed from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

The works will be carried out in two sections – Sewell Road to Monks Manor Drive, followed by Monks Manor Drive to Greetwell Close.

The diversion route for the daytime closure will be via Wragby Road and Outer Circle Road.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: “Following on from our resurfacing works at Rookery Lane earlier this year, the team is now preparing to carry out up to four weeks of improvement works at Greetwell Road.

“Some sections of road here are starting to deteriorate and losing their grip, including near the zebra crossing.

“This isn’t a small job, as the team will be removing large sections of the current carriageway and replacing it with 1,100 tonnes of stone and new tarmac.

“Throughout the project, we’ll be allowing residents and emergency services access through the site if needed and it’s safe to do so.

“And we’re also working closely with the hospital to ensure there’s as little inconvenience as possible for their staff.

“I want to thank everyone in advance for bearing with us during these works.

“Once finished, travelling through north Lincoln will be much safer and more comfortable for all road users.”
