Driving Innovation: Knowledge Transfer Partnerships at Bishop Grosseteste University

Over 45 years helping UK businesses

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP’s) have been helping UK businesses innovate for growth for over 45 years.  They create dynamic connections between businesses and a university to deliver strategic innovation projects lasting between 12-36 months in length.

A suitably qualified graduate (known as the Associate) leads the strategic project.  They are employed by the university to work full-time in the organisation and the three-way partnership embeds vital new expertise into the business, supporting it to realise positive, transformational change and growth.

Bishop Grosseteste University secured its first two-year KTP with Lincolnshire Community Voluntary Service during 2022 and are keen to work with local companies (SMEs, large companies and third sector) to explore this route further and support them with their business needs.

Innovate UK part-fund the cost of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership project:

Charities = 75% funded by Innovate UK

SMEs = 67% funded by Innovate UK

Large Organisations = 50% funded by Innovate UK

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships can help your business:

  • Receive between 50%-75% grant funding
  • Gain cost-effective access to Bishop Grosseteste University’s academic expertise and resources
  • Embed expertise and new knowledge into your organisation, expanding capability
  • Access qualified graduates who will work full time in your company and lead your project
  • Increase your competitive advantage through accelerated innovation
  • Increase revenue through access to new markets and new product development
  • Improve profits through efficiency gains, increased productivity, and better processes
  • Benefit from the strategic input of a Knowledge Transfer Adviser throughout the lifetime of the project

Put simply, KTPs are a robust way to improve your business processes and performance, helping you to become more competitive and productive.
