Council motion calls for halt to asylum seeker housing plans

Home Secretary Suella Braverman has been accused of an “absence of common sense and empathy” in the latest attack on plans to house thousands of asylum seekers at RAF Scampton.

A Liberal Democrat motion due before West Lindsey District Council next Monday criticises the government’s plans to transform the historic RAF Scampton into an alternative accommodation centre for migrants. The government insists the plan is necessary to deal with the backlog of asylum seekers.
