Sacrificial lambs? Lincolnshire councillors oppose two major solar farms

Lincolnshire County Councillors have urged the government to reject two large solar farms, telling them, “don’t make Lincolnshire the sacrificial lamb on the altar of net zero.”

The authority’s Planning and Regulation Committee on Monday examined plans for the 600MW Cottam Farm and the 400MW Heckington Fen Solar Park in order to provide feedback to the Planning Inspectorate. In both instances, councillors recommended objecting to the plans mainly due to their concerns over the impact on Lincolnshire’s farmland, along with concerns around additional traffic, lack of supporting infrastructure, and a lack of development.
