‘It’s very anti-democratic’: South Kesteven councillors slam Lincolnshire devolution deal

Councillors argue the extra money is not enough, or worth the extra bureaucracy

South Kesteven District Councillors have criticised the proposed Greater Lincolnshire devolution deal, expressing regret over the lack of a full local referendum and arguing that the level of investment it promises is simply not enough.

During an extraordinary council meeting on Thursday, local representatives endorsed a motion put forward by Council Leader Richard Cleaver (Independent), expressing reservations regarding the devolution deal that had been approved by Lincolnshire County Council, North Lincolnshire Council, and North East Lincolnshire Council.
