The flags symbolise pride and celebrate the rich heritage of the city of Lincoln. People are encouraged to take pictures and share them on social media using the hashtag #BattleofLincoln.

Head of Visit Lincoln Lydia Rusling said: “Tourism is already worth a massive £190 million to Lincoln every year, but we remain ambitious to make it a top 10 UK destination which has a wealth of events and attractions to offer individuals, couples and families.
“It is vital to look at every element of the way in which we present Lincoln to potential tourists, whether they want to discover more of our history, our shopping offer, cultural attractions or are thinking of coming to study in the city.
“The designers of the 2017 branding were asked to make the street dressing designs eye-catching and vibrant, in support our city’s cultural expose in 2017.”
