What’s on: Christmas lights switch-ons across Lincolnshire 2016
The nights are dark, hats and scarves are needed just to take the bins out… it’s definitely nearly Christmas! The team at Lincolnshire Reporter have searched for the biggest Christmas lights switch-ons across the county. Lincoln

St Mark’s Square
When: Thursday, November 17, 6.30pm
Where: St Mark’s, Lincoln
Almost Olly – an Olly Murs tribute act – will entertain the crowds at the shopping centre before the cast of Lincoln Drill Hall’s Beauty and the Beast will do the honours of switching on the lights across the centre.

Lincoln High Street
When: Thursday, November 17, 7pm
Where: Lincoln High Street
Atomic Kitten star and former Queen of the Jungle in ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!’, Kerry Katona and Paralympian Sophie Wells will perform the main switch-on.
Brigg

When: Friday, December 2, 5pm-8.30pm
Where: Brigg town centre
The Christmas lights will be switched on by local school pupils,who are winners of a Christmas Colouring Competition.
The town will be filled with craft and charity fundraising stalls that provide all the sounds and smells of Christmas.
Grimsby
When: Thursday, November 24, 7pm
Where: Grimsby town centre
The event will see the main town lights switch-on as well as a host of other extras, including: a visit from Santa, reindeers, a funfair, donkeys, a parade, market stalls and more.
Boston

Where: Stamford High Street, Ironmonger Street, Broad Street, Red Lion Square, and Sheep Market
The popular traditional Stamford Christmas Festival will be returning to the heart of the town.
To add to the festive spirit there will be entertainment galore throughout the day including festive Punch and Judy shows, school choirs, Santa’s Grotto, real reindeers, a children’s fun fair and, of course, culminating with the Christmas lights switch-on.
Gainsborough

Gainsborough Town Centre
When: Friday, November 18, 7pm
Where: Gainsborough town centre
An event spreading throughout the town all day on Friday evening this year will see two stage areas with entertainment every half an hour plus big headline acts and an exciting guest hosting the countdown.
Marshall’s Yard
When: Friday, November 18, 8pm
Where: Marshall’s Yard, Gainsborough
You can enjoy fairground rides, free horse and carriage rides, free face painting, food and craft stalls, stilt walkers and plenty more wonderful attractions.
Scunthorpe

When: Saturday, November 26, 9am-4.30pm
Where: Scunthorpe town centre
The light switch-on event will see a day of activities and entertainment for the whole family.
There will be a special Christmas market with traditional Victorian rides and games.
There will be a wide variety of stalls including mulled wine, German sausage, bespoke wooden crafts, traditional sweets, candles, cakes, Christmas decorations and books – just to name a few.
Skegness

When: Thursday, November 24, 7pm
Where: Hildreds Shopping Centre, Skegness
The Skegness Christmas switch-on starts at 6pm with entertainment from Lisa Jay’s Stage Institute, carol singers and street entertainers.
The Christmas parade will start at 6.20pm and will leave Briar Way opposite the market, travel down High Street and along Lumley Road to the stage by the town Christmas Tree.
Louth

Where: Louth town centre
Come and join in with the festivities at this wonderful event, meet probably the world’s Biggest Santa and browse around over 70 stalls.
Listen to the choir and be there for the Christmas tree light switch-on at 3.30pm.
