Members of a Lincolnshire Scout and Guides group are enjoying new facilities at their hut after receiving a grant from the South Kesteven District Council’s Community Fund.

The 1st Barrowby Scouts and Guides are making the most of their new kitchen, toilets and fencing around their Low Road headquarters after a successful application for the fund.

Graffiti has been removed from the site as well as an increase in access to the hut.

“This project is an excellent example of how the fund will benefit hundreds of people for years to come as children and their parents and guardians enjoy the new facilities,” said SKDC’s Councillor Helen Goral, a cabinet member for Communications and Engagement.

“It will also be a great facility for the community, allowing the group to host further meetings and events in more comfortable surroundings.”

Becky Kershaw of the Scouts Building Committee Group, said: “We’re really pleased with the new features, it makes the building even more functional allowing the children, scout group leaders and parents to enjoy the facilities when we meet and host activities.

“We really want to thank South Kesteven District Council for helping us with this, it’s greatly appreciated.”

Applications are now open for the latest round of grants on the Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Services website and people can submit their applications by September 29.
