Councillors to decide on plans for 200 homes in Boston

A significant number of the homes would be affordable.
If the plans go ahead, the majority of the proposed homes will consist of affordable housing.

Boston councillors will decide on plans for up to 200 homes south of the town centre next week.

Proposals submitted by Chestnut Homes Ltd would see the homes built on agricultural land off Wyberton Low Road.

The application has been split into two phases, with phase one consisting of 71 homes on 2.5 hectares of land.

Access, layout, and appearance of the proposed development have also been submitted as part of phase one.

Phase two includes the construction of 129 homes on 5.4 hectares of land, with all matters reserved for later approval.

The 200 homes would be served by a single vehicle access road off of Wyberton Low Road.

The site also fronts onto Slippery Gowt Lane to the south and Heron Way to the east.

Houses in the development would be mainly one, two and three bedrooms with a limited number of bungalows. The plans include a mixture of detached and semi-detached properties.

If the plans go ahead, the majority of the proposed homes will consist of affordable housing.

Phase one would see 43 affordable homes built, with the others including starter homes, and homes of shared ownership.

The plans also include an extension of the existing footpath along Wyberton Low Road.

In December 2017, planning permission for a further 85 dwellings was submitted near Stephenson Close in the town, close to this proposed development.

Councillors on Boston Borough Council’s planning committee will decide on the plans at a meeting on Tuesday, February 6.
