An adult party venue near Boston accused of being a swingers pad by neighbours has been given the go ahead to sell alcohol on site.
Boston Borough Council’s licensing committee approved Neil Wright’s application for The Pool Shed, at Marsh Farm Cottage, in Frampton, on Tuesday.
Neighbours had previously raised concern related to increased noise and traffic in the area, with one objector calling the venue a “base for swingers”.
Mr Wright had previously denied “providing sex” saying the venue was “just a safe place for people to meet”. He called objections around the swinging allegations “hogwash”.
During the meeting, Mr Wright amended his application to only include five days a week and to open for shorter time periods in a bid to address some concerns.
Legal representatives on behalf of Mr Wright said there “had never been any issues raised to the council or responsible authorities” and outlined policies around safeguarding, drugs and first aid.
No representations had been made from statutory authorities such as police.
Three objectors spoke against the application at the meeting.
However, the council’s decision report added: “All three objectors did concede that recently there had been no real issues regarding noise, and [neighbours] felt able to talk to the applicant when they had concerns.”
“The sub-committee were grateful to the objectors for participating in the licensing process… and had sympathies with some of their comments,” said the decision notice.
“The sub-committee noted that the applicant had attempted to address some of their concerns and had amended their application.
“In weighing all of the above, the sub-committee were overall content that the applicant would uphold and promote the licensing objectives, and would run the premises as a responsible premises licence holder and designated premises supervisor.”
The venue includes a pool, Jacuzzi, bar and dance area.
Mr Wright previously said he had hosted private parties at the venue two or three times a month since 2009 without issue.
Guests previously brought their own drinks, but Mr Wright said the licence would allow him to better control what people were drinking.
