Former staff members at the LIVES have opened up about a “hostile and toxic environment” at the first responder charity, following a damning CQC report that said leadership and safety require improvement.

Lincolnshire Integrated Voluntary Emergency Service (LIVES) is a registered charity providing care, treatment and transport for sick and injured people in the county of Lincolnshire. The concept was devised in the 1970s before rebranding to LIVES in 2016.

The MP for Lincoln has joined calls from politicians across the country to offer greater financial support for local councils, in a fresh bid to avoid a £4 billion shortfall in the coming years.

The letter, which is addressed to both the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the Levelling Up Secretary Michael Gove, urges central government to “ensure that the funding needs of local authorities in our areas are properly recognised during the upcoming Local Government Finance Settlement.”
