Housing plan for former Scunthorpe school site

New homes on the site of a former school

Plans have been lodged for 14 new homes on a former Scunthorpe school site.

Applicant Mohammed Rafiq Khan submitted the proposals for a residential development on the former Riddings Primary School site, Dragonby Road.

The land was sold at a public auction by North Lincolnshire Council in Sheffield last year.

The council placed the land up for sale at a guide price of £300,000.

Planning permission is being sought to build a mixture of detached, semi-detached and terraced houses.

The application also looks to make amendments to the access to the site and amendments to parking on Dragonby Road.

The developer said that the proposed residential development would help the local authority to meet its demand for housing.

In a design and access statement, they said: “The proposed development will provide a modest amount of residential development that will ensure the council are able to deliver the housing required to meet the overall needs of the district.

“This shows that the council can demonstrate a five-year supply of deliverable housing sites to meet the needs of the district.

“The site provides good access to local bus services and is a suitable location for development.”
