Developers want to build 152 homes in Laceby

The parish council is objecting though

North East Lincolnshire councillors have been recommended to approve an application for 152 homes in Laceby.

Humberside Land Developers Ltd submitted plans for the residential development on land off Field Head Road in the village.

Members of the council’s planning committee will consider the application on June 20.

Planning officers at the council have recommended that the proposed development be approved subject to a contributions agreement.

The site is allocated for housing under the council’s recently adopted local plan.

Permission is being sought for the homes with access to the site and emergency vehicle access at Charles Avenue.

But Laceby Parish Council have objected to the application on the grounds of the development being too close to an existing livestock unit in the village.

The parish council added that at a public meeting concern was also raised over drainage and flooding at the site.

In a letter to North East Lincolnshire Council, the parish council said: “We are experiencing flooding in various parts of Laceby close to other newer developments and this concerns us a great deal.”

The authority added that there is still concern over the infrastructure in the village and the amount of homes being built with further applications expected.

A similar application was refused for the site in February 2015 due to the site being close to an existing livestock unit and objections over increased traffic in the village.

But, in a design and access statement, the developer said that the proposed site would bring high quality homes to the area.

They said: “We feel there are sufficient positives to justify an application of this nature on the site in question.

“The development of this vacant site will bring high quality homes and public open space while completing the development anticipated at the western edge of the village.”
