Lincoln Big Soup: Making a community idea reality

The winning pitch will receive all the ticket money

A community idea will win money and get turned into reality after people in Lincoln vote for their favourite pitch at Compassionate Lincoln’s Big Soup event later this week.

Compassionate Lincoln will hold an event at Lincoln Drill Hall on Saturday, June 16 at 11.30am, where people are invited for lunch and to hear pitches no longer than five minutes each.

Tickets are priced at £5 with lunch served after the pitches and people will then vote before the winning pitch is announced.

The winning pitch will receive all the ticket money, which could be around £250, from the event to turn their idea into a reality.

The runners-up would share sponsorship money of £150. The event is sponsored by The Lincolnite, Lincoln Drill Hall and Café Shanti.

Anyone wanting support for a project should e-mail [email protected] and for information about the event click here.

Steve Kemp from Compassionate Lincoln said: “When local people invest in the enthusiasm of others, making a positive difference becomes so much easier.”

As previously reported, clothing blankets and toiletries gathered as part of Compassionate Lincoln’s drive to support refugees were collected, sorted and shipped to Syria last month.

Compassionate Lincoln is a campaign to encourage compassionate, community-led responses to social issues and challenges which affect Lincoln.’
