Woman killed in A18 crash named

Specialist officers are supporting her family

A 66-year-old woman who died after a crash involving a van and a car on the A18 yesterday has been named by police.

Irene Casey-Evans, who lived in Cleethorpes, died after a crash between a red Mazda 2 and a black Volkswagen Transporter at the junction at Barnetby Top at around 8.45am on Thursday, May 31.

As previously reported, the incident happened outside Gallows Wood Service Station in Barnetby and the female driver of the Mazda car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man driving the Volkswagen suffered minor injuries.

Humberside Police said: “Specialist officers are supporting her family. Her family have asked that their privacy is respected and they are not contacted at this sad time.”

Humberside Police confirmed on Thursday that a man was arrested in connection with the incident, who has since been released under investigation.
