Large field fire breaks out in Lincoln village

This isn’t the first big field fire this month

Fire crews rushed to the scene of a large field fire in a Lincoln village on Wednesday afternoon.

Eight fire engines from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service are at the scene in the Welton area where 40 hectares of stubble fields are on fire.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue are advising people to keep their doors and windows shut.

Lincolnshire Police said it’s possible that smoke caused by the fire could affect the A15, so to drive with care, avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

There have been a number of other field fires in the county in recent days, including a huge blaze which destroyed around 30 acres of spring barley on South Drove in Helpringham on Tuesday, August 7.

Last week an overheating combine drive belt caused a field fire in Brant Broughton , and there were also recent incidents in Donington on Bain and Moulton Seas End.
