Man jailed for sexually assaulting and photographing child

A pervert with physical and mental health problems was jailed for four years after admitting sexually assaulting a young girl.

Andrew Hunsdon, 56, was initially arrested after police suspected he was downloading indecent images of young children.

When police raided his home at Amber Hill near Boston they discovered photographs he had taken of a 12-year-old girl.

The girl was subsequently traced by officers and revealed she had also been sexually abused by Hunsdon.

Richard Thatcher, prosecuting, said that Hunsdon’s home was searched by officers in August 2016.

He said: “The police were in receipt of information that the defendant had been involved in file sharing of indecent photographs and videos of children.

“He was challenged and indicated he had been involved in sharing images.”

Hunsdon, formerly of Sutterton Drove, Amber Hill, Boston, but recently living in a psychiatric unit, admitted sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, sexual activity with a child and two charges of taking an indecent image of a child.

He also admitted three charges of making a total of 430 indecent images of children and a further charge of possessing 62 extreme pornographic images.

Sunil Khanna, in mitigation, said that Hunsdon has physical and mental health problems.

“He continues to state that he has no memory of these incidents but he accepts that the evidence is overwhelming and he must have committed the offences.

“For the last 15 years he has had multiple mental health problems including severe depression.

“By his pleas he has accepted his culpability and accepts that his behaviour was appalling and cannot be justified.”

Judge Simon Hirst, passing sentence, told Hunsdon: “You maintain that you have no recollection of committing these offences. I find it difficult to accept that bearing in mind that you told the police which computer equipment you had used to access indecent images of children.

“Plainly your offending is so serious that only an immediate custodial sentence can be passed.”
