Crowds gather for Lincoln teen crash victims memorial

There were family speeches and balloons were released

A big remembrance event took place in City Square in Lincoln on Saturday to honour the three teenagers who died in a crash near RAF Scampton.

As previously reported, three teenagers died after a silver Vauxhall Astra left the road at Welton Cliff near RAF Scampton at around 8pm on Monday, March 25.

Money has been raised for the funerals of Ricky (left) Joby (centre) and Aiden (right).

Over £2,000 has been raised for the funerals of the crash victims – Joby John (14), Aiden Sawyer (17) and Ricky Sharp (17). Three others were injured in the collision, but escaped without life-changing injuries.

It opened with a speech from Tom. This was followed by speeches from the family’s of the three victims. Tom also thanked Lincolnshire Police and the Level 1 group for keeping the crowd safe.

There was a two minute silence held before remembrance music was played. Balloons were then released at the scene in memory of the victims.

A carpet of flowers were left at the scene of the crash this week. A remembrance event was held in Birchwood earlier in the week where balloons were released in memory of the young victims.
