Convicted rapist hiding in Lincoln caught by police

He is now in custody

A wanted rapist, who was believed to pose a significant risk to woman, has been caught by police and arrested.

As previously reported, William Clawson, 27, was released from prison on January 17 after serving a seven-year sentence for the rape of a woman in the city.

Shortly after he was sent back to prison from March 15-28 for three breaches of failing to notify the police about this address, threatening behaviour and battery.

Police located Clawson, who had failed to comply with his probation conditions, during the evening of Wednesday, August 28 in the Burton Road area of Lincoln.

Lincolnshire Police said: “He was arrested and is in custody. Thank you to all who supported our appeal to help find him.”

Police previously charged Clawson when he was 19-years-old for rape, assault, and theft after an incident on Ruckland Avenue in Lincoln in 2011.

The force also previously issued a wanted appeal for Clawson over threats to kill in March 2019.
