Pictures show extent of A46 damage after transporter crash

The road will be down to one lane for three days

Pictures from the A46 Lincoln bypass where a car transporter crashed have revealed the extent of damage that will take three days to repair.

The A46 between the Carholme and Riseholme roundabouts is down to just one lane on either side while repair works are ongoing.

It was closed completely for around 20 hours but will be finished by Sunday, ready in time for the busy commute on Monday, January 27.

Now one lane is open on either side of the A46 but it still caused major problems around the area on Friday morning.

A transporter lorry crashed into the central reservation, overturning and losing cars overnight on Wednesday, January 22.

The accident caused significant damage to the central reservation and spread debris and fuel across both carriageways.

Richard Davies, responsible for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, visited the site with Lincoln MP Karl McCartney on Friday morning.

The road was closed for around 20 hours

He said: “Many thanks to the hard-working team on-site and for Karl for taking the time to visit.

“Over 30 metres of barrier needing to be replaced including 20 concrete posts.”
