Lincoln’s new indoor football arena opens this spring

It will include five-a-side football pitches

Construction has begun on a new purpose-built indoor football arena opening in Lincoln this spring.

Active Arena is a quarter-of-a-million-pound private development located on Moorland Way, behind the M&S food store. It will open in April 2020 and is available for both adults and children to use.

As previously reported, Kixx Lincoln, a football activity programme for children aged from 18 months to 10 years, will take over the building at the Moorland Centre Retail Park off Tritton Road, after the city council approved the proposal for the new facility. The venue

Active Arena, which is owned by Daniel and Stacey Hone, will include two indoor five-a-side football pitches, two junior pitches, a Sports Café & Bar and an activity room across two floors.

The arena will also host local community health and fitness sessions, walking football groups, holiday clubs and, in the evening, five-a-side football leagues, which will be open for team applications in March. It will also be available for private bookings and corporate events.

The Sport Café & Bar will provide seating for visitors and offer a selection of hot and cold food and drinks. The bar will also play live sporting events on big screens.

Daniel Hone, who previously played for Lincoln City and is the owner of Active Arena, said: “With five-a-side leagues and kids coaching growing at a fast pace, Lincoln is crying out for a safer, indoor, purpose-built football venue.

“Outdoor pitches are open to the elements. This means they become un-useable and dangerous in bad weather. Active Arena’s purpose-built indoor pitches can be used whatever the weather outside.”
