Lincoln sports club to reopen after COVID-19 scare

Two staff members have also been tested

A community sports and social club in Lincoln will reopen again later this week after a coronavirus scare.

Ruston Sports & Social Club on Newark Road said over the weekend that it would be closing after a customer tested positive for coronavirus, who was in the venue on Friday evening.

Manager Danielle Pender told The Lincolnite the club can now reopen on Wednesday, July 15 after that customer since received a negative coronavirus test result.

The two employees who were working on the Friday evening have been for a a coronavirus test and are awaiting their results. The manager said that the two employees will only return to work when they are safe to do so.

The club will now undergo a deep clean ahead of Wednesday’s reopening and Danielle said: “On Saturday morning we were informed that a customer who was in Friday evening had just received positive results from a COVID-19 test.

“With this information we informed all customers which had given us their details for the track and trace and closed the pub.

“We contacted Public Health England, who advised us that we could remain open. However, we took the decision to close for the safety of staff and customers.

“The employees then sent off for COVID tests and deep cleaning was arranged. This morning we received information that said customer has taken another test and it has come back negative as the previous ones had also done prior to the positive result. We plan to reopen our doors on Wednesday.”

The club hopes to reopen again on Wednesday July 15.
