Newark Air Museum reopens to visitors, one at a time

The famous air museum is back

By Local Democracy Reporter

The Newark Air Museum has reopened to the public again, displaying various exhibits of iconic aircrafts.

The museum is situated on the former World War Two airfield in RAF Winthorpe, and has been open since April 1973.

There are exhibits for various planes and helicopters next to the Newark Showground.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the museum was forced to close all exhibits fully in March, but it has now brought them back.

Some exhibits are still being sorted, with the exhibition hall remaining closed for the time being.

All visitors must leave contact details upon arrival for track and trace purposes.

A new one-way system has been put in place, but the size of the site will allow for freedom of movement around the exhibits.

The cafe and museum shop have also been reopened, but with new measures in place.

The museum shop has been open since June 16, with a one-in-one-out policy as well as a one-way system.

The cafe will operate with a limited menu and no hot snacks and the use of disposable takeaway cups.
