RAF Battle of Britain flypast to honour Dame Vera Lynn

Lincolnshire pays tribute to Dame Vera Lynn

A Spitfire and Hurricane from RAF Coningsby will be celebrating the life of Dame Vera Lynn with a flypast on Friday.

The funeral of Dame Vera, will see the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, based at RAF Coningsby, fly over her family home.

The Spitfire and Hurricane flypast will take place at midday, leaving the Coningsby base and going to Dame Vera’s home in Ditchling, East Sussex.

The Forces’ Sweetheart died in June aged 103, and was fondly remembered for her wartime song ‘We’ll Meet Again’.

The song was performed across the country during the 75th VE Day celebrations.
