Lincoln City to play Scunthorpe in friendly

First game at home in six months

By Local Democracy Reporter

There will be a local football derby tonight, as Lincoln City take on Scunthorpe United in a pre-season friendly.

Lincoln City are preparing for their second season in League One, which will start on September 12 against Oxford United.

The game will be the first at the LNER Stadium for 171 days, but also the first without fans due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

It’s the third friendly of Lincoln’s pre-season, after losing 1-0 to Salford City last Tuesday and a 3-2 defeat behind closed doors against Leicester City.

It will also be the first opportunity to see new signing Theo Archibald in action, after he joined Lincoln from Macclesfield on Monday.

As for Scunthorpe, they start their League Two season at home to Newport County on September 12, so this friendly will be to try and get them up to speed.

The game is being streamed live and you can watch for £5 by following the link on The Imps website.
