New COVID-19 testing centre opens in Lincoln

Near the university, accessible on foot

By Local Democracy Reporter

A new walk-in COVID-19 testing facility has opened in Lincoln for anyone with symptoms to book appointments.

The centre is at the Joseph Banks Laboratories car park at University of Lincoln, behind B&Q off Tritton Road. It has been located to make it easily accessible without the need for a car.

Testing at the site begins on Wednesday and appointments will be made available each day via the NHS website. It’s in addition to the testing centre at the Lincolnshire Showground.

Anyone being tested will be required to follow all public health measures, including social distancing, not travelling via public transport and wearing a face covering.

When you have booked a test at the new centre, you will be provided with guidance on getting to and from the site safely, as well as there being additional support for vulnerable or disabled people.

Health Minister Lord Bethell said: “We continue to expand testing to make sure that everyone with symptoms can get a test, with our new walk-in sites making it even easier no matter where you live.

“This new site forms part of our national testing network, which has the capacity to test more than a million people a week and is growing all the time.

“If you have symptoms of coronavirus, I urge you to book a test today and follow the advice of NHS Test and Trace if you are contacted to protect others around you and stop the spread of the virus.”

A new testing centre also opened in Grimsby this week.
