Lincoln estate agent expands as housing market is ‘not slowing down’
Londoners are moving to Lincoln in search of a better life
Independent Lincoln estate agent Taylor Walsh moved into their new offices on Silver Street this month as the local property market is booming.
Darren Beckett, managing director, said people selling their homes were now getting lots of offers due to a shortage of properties on the market.
Darren upsized to a modern new office on Silver Street after a move from the Bailgate, and told The Lincolnite: “Apart from the first lockdown, we’ve been fortunate to stay open – the market has been quite resilient, it’s not slowing down.
“The lack of properties coming to market has created an intensity, there’s double or treble the number of buyers for every property.
“If clients want to sell properties, it’s a good time. Most homes are going for the asking price or above.
“A lot of properties are getting sold prior to coming to market. People who have registered interest with us have seen it before it goes on Rightmove. It’s frustrating for people who haven’t registered.”

People are also moving to Lincoln from other parts of the country.
Darren told The Lincolnite: “People can sell an average three or four-bed house for £1m in the south and come up here and buy the same quality of house for £300,000 to £400,000 – and have a better quality of life.
“The quiet pace of life is attracting people. It’s good for Lincoln, it fuels new development.”

Darren said the new Lincoln Eastern bypass had made it easier for people to drive to and from the city, pushing up house prices in other parts of the county as well.
But he said the area was still very affordable compared with other parts of the UK – and that it was a great place to buy a house, with a growing economy and plenty of city centre investment.
Taylor Walsh specialises in sales and lettings and has had a base in Lincoln for the past four years. The company has also expanded its team with two new members of staff.

Darren, who has 21 years experience in the Lincoln property market, said: “Being here on Silver Street, we’ve noticed a huge amount of difference in the number of people coming into the shop – it’s more convenient for people.”
Taylor Walsh has another office in Milton Keynes, run by founder Jamie Walsh, who set up six years ago and named the business after his daughter, Taylor.
Between them, Darren and Jamie have more than 40 years’ estate agency experience. You can call the Lincoln office on 01522 404040.
